About the program

Pure Thoughts Co is a company that is created for the sole purpose to make people feel comfortable in their own clothes. As I created PTC, I wanted to make clothing that I felt loved & beautiful in. So often, we base beauty off of what people wear, instead of how they feel in that clothing or even what they feel inside. This brand was made to make people feel powerful & in charge of their life, just as my tattoo does for me. When I designed my tattoo & got it done two years ago, it meant that I had chosen to live every day with a purpose. While I fail that goal some days, I look to the tattoo as a reminder that I can still achieve my full purpose even when I may fall short of my goals.

In a nut shell, Pure Thoughts Co supports the purest of thoughts no matter the situation. As a part of the mental health community, I understand the first hand difficulties of dealing with the confusions prior to diagnoses, the issues after being diagnosed, & the journey to beating mental health diseases. At PTC, we believe mental health is top priority. In order to continue pushing for less stigma surrounding mental health, suicidal ideation & suicide, depression, & anxiety, as well as much more in the mental health community, we put forth a brand that allows for conversation starters surrounding these topics.

When you wear this clothing or see your sticker on your laptop/water bottle, wherever you chose to place it, I want you to remember why you have that. I want to challenge those involved in the Pure Thoughts community to think about what mental health means to you. If someone makes a comment about your apparel or accessory from here, I hope you have the courage to explain how much mental health means to YOU. By each of us talking more comfortably about mental health, we will begin to break the stigma.

As I curated this design for my tattoo, I took details of my life that translated into symbols representing the meaning of life to me as a reminder to keep growing & producing new life. I hope they do the same for you.

BUTTERFLIES: The three butterflies represent me and my siblings. I have an older brother and sister who have been by my side through thick and thin. Even at my worst, they loved me. These two people are the ones who showed me that even beauty can fly out of the worst. A butterfly starts its life as a caterpillar and transitions into a stunning creature full of life and beauty. Let us all strive to be that.

OLIVE BRANCH: An olive branch symbolizes peace and victory. I chose this plant to demonstrate that I rose victorious from my diagnosis and you too can beat whatever you set your mind to with this reminder. I believe peace is what grounds us through the trials. It slows our minds down to focus on what truly matters in the moment.

SUNFLOWER: This flower exemplifies long life & everlasting love. Whenever I felt trapped in darkness, there was always a sunflower next to me. Looking back, I can see that as a sign - We are meant to live & love those around us… even in the darkness.

CARNATION: My favorite flower. It represents positive feelings of love, affection, & admiration for oneself. I never even knew that until I started designing the tattoo - Now it reminds me that I can grow into affection for myself on my own time. There is no pressure to be perfect, I cannot become who I was meant to be right away. It takes time & growth through the hardest & most beautiful moments.

WATER LILLY: My birth flower. It gave me strength in the hard moments throughout recovery, & still does to this day, It represents that I have a positive purpose. It reminds me that I was born for a reason so I am able to have peace with myself when life is at a low. These flowers grow in swamps! They are the perfect example of beauty growing out of darkness.
